Héol senior residence in Saint-Brieuc: what future in the face of the difficulties of the Heurus group?

What will happen to the Héol residence in Saint-Brieuc? Since January 8, the senior residence manager Heurus has been placed in receivership, a procedure which concerns its headquarters and several of its establishments. In , the group operates five residences, including Héol, opening in May 2024 on the site of the former Littoral clinic, near the Fred-Aubert stadium in Saint-Brieuc. This “multigenerational” residence of 101 housing units brings together seniors, students and workers, and employs around ten people. The goal being “to support the loss of autonomy among vulnerable people while favoring connections,” explained the site director during the inauguration. Adding that Heurus establishments reach their full reception capacity – around 150 people in this case, “in four years on average”, after their opening.

“No change” in Héol for the moment

Yes, but now, after eight months of existence, the horizon of Héol – “sun” in Breton, is no longer so clear. So, the group wants to be reassuring: “There is no change for the operation of the site and for the daily lives of its residents,” he declared to Télégramme, this Friday, January 17. For now at least. Because according to our information, an “advanced discussion” is underway, with a potential buyer. Of the Breton establishments managed by Heurus, only “Olympe” in Loudéac will remain in the Heurus fold.

“We wonder if our lease will be renewed”

In front of the Héol residence, a shopping bag in each hand, Alain and Monique

prefer to be positive. “We’ll see as we go along.” They were informed of the situation during a meeting with the site director last week. The couple has been renting a T3 there since October, after months of searching. “And we are very happy there, the retiree is positive. So as long as we live in these conditions, there is nothing to worry about. »

As long as nothing changes, agrees Bastien, in his twenties, who fears that a buyer will change the spirit of the residence. “Will he allow young people to stay or will he prefer to transform the place into a residence exclusively for the elderly? », asks the student, who enjoys “playing belote” with his elders. “Today with my partner, we are wondering if we will be able to keep our accommodation, if our lease will be renewed… So yes, we are worried. »
