The Fire Safety Department of the Municipality of Sainte-Barbe recently acquired a brand new medical first responder truck.
This is equipped with cutting-edge equipment allowing firefighters to intervene quickly for medical assistance or specialized emergency intervention in the municipality. The vehicle is specifically dedicated to emergency calls where a citizen’s life is in danger, whether for road accidents, cardiorespiratory arrests or even anaphylactic shock.
“With our territory bordered by Lake Saint-François, in addition to the islands inhabited there, the first responder service is a considerable asset for the safety of our citizens. The addition of this truck to the vehicles and equipment already in place at the SSI, in addition to our new fire station, confirms our position as leader in fire and water safety in the region,” declares Mayor Louise Lebrun.
-“Currently, there are 16 people trained in PR level 2, and soon, 2 others will complete their training. We answer around forty calls from first responders every year. The old truck had reached the end of its useful life, we are very proud of the new one” confides Joel Trudeau, director of the municipality’s fire department.
