ChatGPT, one of the most prominent chatbots powered by OpenAI’s artificial intelligence, recently suffered a global outage. Users have experienced difficulty accessing both the website and the chat application, with many encountering a “Bad gateway” error page instead of the usual chat functionality.
However, for some users, the ChatGPT application appeared to function normally. Surprisingly, OpenAI’s official status page claimed that all systems were operational.
DownDetector, a website specializing in tracking service outages, has seen a sharp increase in problem reports, with more than 3,500 reports at press time.
Users quickly took to X (formerly Twitter) to discuss the malfunction, sharing memes and checking to see if others were experiencing similar outages.
