the brand new college of Bourneville-Sainte- closed due to a major flood

Students at Simone Saute college in Bourneville-Sainte- (Eure) were asked to return home this Monday, January 20 because of a flood that occurred during the weekend in the basement of the half-board.

A flood was discovered in the basement of the half-board accommodation this Monday, January 20 at the Simone Sauteur college in Bourneville-Sainte-Croix. The establishment was closed to the public while repairs were carried out.

“The firefighters are on site and have started to pump out the enormous volume of water which has accumulated over 400 square meters and two meters in height,” reports the Eure departmental council in a press release that BFM Normandie is procured.

The establishment inaugurated in September

The community is not in a position, for the moment, to determine the origin of this flood and recalls that the establishment was inaugurated last September. The incident is believed to have occurred over the weekend.

“Companies are already on site and mobilized to intervene as soon as possible. The Departmental Council is working closely with the Academic Inspectorate to quickly communicate a date for resuming classes to the parents of the establishment’s 560 students,” continues the Department. .

The establishment cost the Eure departmental council 20.9 million euros. It replaced the dilapidated college of Manneville-sur-Risle a few kilometers away. Ultimately, the new college will accommodate up to 800 students.
