In 2024, Amazon will gain nearly 1 million more third-party sellers on its sites

In 2024, nearly a million new sellers will join Amazon sites, according to information from the Marketplace Pulse site. These new merchants are present in the 22 markets where Amazon flies the flag, but about a third of them have joined Amazon’s first market: the United States. Comparing to previous years, we see that, in 2022 alone, the site recorded even more new sellers (1 million). The Seattle giant’s marketplaces have integrated more than four million over the last five years.

Certainly, many do not make any sales and also leave the site. Thus, of the 10 million third-party sellers on its sites, only 2.3 million sellers are active, according to the website of the logistics service provider Contimod.

58% of Amazon sales come from its marketplaces

Despite the near-constant influx of new merchants, more than half of the sales volume on Amazon’s marketplace comes from sellers who began trading on the platform more than five years ago. Due to its hegemony, in the United States but also in many countries including , not being on seller amounts to depriving oneself of great market potential. Amazon generates more than half of its sales (58%) through its marketplace. The site also buys and sells directly.
