A start to the year marked by a new cold snap
This new week is marked by a significant change in weather conditions in France. Indeed, the high pressures will shift towards Eastern Europe, thus leaving the field open to Atlantic depressions. These will directly influence the weather over the next few days. In addition to the return of rain from Wednesday, mild weather will also be present in a flow moving towards the southwest sector.
A wintry start to the week, especially in the north
In the regions of the northern half, the days follow one another and are similar… It is thus an often gray Monday which dominates between Normandy and Grand Est. In the southeast quarter, clouds continue to bring light rain and some snow to the mountains. Elsewhere, the sun is generous. Temperatures range from 2 to 15°C at best in the afternoon, from Lille and Strasbourg to Corsica.
The situation will improve in the northern regions on Tuesday with significantly less gray and more sunshine. It will simply become veiled over the hours, already announcing the deterioration of the next day… In the south-eastern quarter, conditions will resemble those of the day before with continued light rain and snow on the border Alps. Some precipitation will also reach Aquitaine during the day. The risk of frost will decrease significantly, while the maximums will trend upward.
The change in weather is confirmed for the middle of the week with the return of disturbances from the ocean. So, it will rain in the northwest of the country on Wednesday. Conditions will also remain unstable in the Mediterranean, under the effect of low pressure minima circulating in these regions. Between these two areas, the sky will be cloudy with rare showers possible. Rare frosts will remain possible towards the north-eastern borders while mild weather will settle in from the south-west.
-An increasingly marked mildness at the end of the week
The rains arriving from the northwest on Wednesday will cross the country during the day on Thursday. They will be locally sustained and will be accompanied by a fairly strong southwest wind. It will snow at high altitudes over the Pyrenees and the Alps while a trailing sky with showers will take over at the back. The mildness will increase with sometimes more than 15°C in the south while the risk of morning frost will disappear.

Snow, rain, mild spells… Why the weather keeps blowing hot and cold
The parade of Atlantic disturbances will continue on Friday with the arrival of a new area of rain from the northwest. The rest of the territory will benefit from temporarily calmer conditions, with even clearings. They will be more beautiful towards the south-east which will thus find calm weather after several chaotic days. The mildness will become widespread and become strong in the southwest, with peaks of 18°C in Aquitaine.
The disturbed flow will remain more relevant than ever next weekend with a new rainy front expected on Saturday and which will be followed by showers during the day on Sunday. However, Mediterranean regions should stay away from these rains. On the mercury side, the mildness will persist with values above seasonal norms, in the morning and afternoon.
