Murder of a woman in Luçon: he admits to having strangled and suffocated her

The gendarmes discovered the lifeless body of a 69-year-old woman when they went to her home, in the city center of Luçon (Vendée), Friday January 17, 2025. A little earlier in the day, her companion, a 61-year-old man, hospitalized in a drunken state in (Hauts-de-), revealed that he had killed him. He was taken into custody. The La Roche-sur-Yon public prosecutor’s office opened an investigation into spousal murder, which was entrusted to the Fontenay-le-Comte research brigade.

“Following an argument”

On the evening of Saturday January 18, Sarah Huet, public prosecutor in La Roche-sur-Yon, indicated that while in police custody, “the man admitted to having strangled and suffocated his partner on January 16 following an argument. The police custody has been extended.” Investigators are trying to define the exact nature of the relationship between the victim and the accused. The lady was living in great precariousness, the mayor of Luçon confided this Saturday.
