R1 men: Beaten 80-71, Braine takes a lesson at Gembloux

Gembloux leader Tommy Cirreli directly set the tone. As the minutes passed, the Branois took a bunch of baskets from second chances offered to their opponents. Braine didn’t have control over the rebound. Gembloux logically went ahead in the scoreboard. And it was not the exclusion of Jonathan Seki Kandi in the last minutes that fixed things for the Brainois. Quite the contrary. “I don’t even dare look at the statistics because they are so bad, still plagues the Braine coach . We collect 80 points, it’s not our habit. Defensively we didn’t do the job. It wasn’t us.”

It is clear that this was not the expected result. With this defeat, the Brainois remain in their third place, but with five defeats, they no longer have any option on the second place in the ranking which was open to them. Will this defeat leave its mark? We will find out next Friday at 7:45 p.m., during the visit of Sprimont who crushed the Brainois in the first leg (76-56).
