Zverev Surpasses Humbert in Intense Duel to Reach the Quarter-Finals of the Australian Open

World number two Alex Zverev showed resilience and skill as he knocked out Ugo Humbert in a gripping match on Sunday, securing a place in the quarter-finals of the Australian Open. After a hesitant start, the quality of his service and his relentless baseline strategy allowed him to win with a score of 6-1, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2.

Having already triumphed over Humbert in the Masters final last year, Zverev praised the impressive progress made by the Frenchman, currently ranked 14th. ‘He’s an extremely difficult player to beat,’ Zverev said. ‘In recent months he has made a lot of progress and has a great chance of joining the top 10 very soon.’

With renewed confidence following his rehabilitation from a biceps injury that disrupted his preparation, Zverev expressed his determination to continue his campaign. ‘A week ago I was unsure of my level,’ he admitted candidly. ‘But I really want to play three more games here, so we’ll see how that goes.’
