War in the Middle East: Israel will “immediately” receive the list of hostages for release

Four days before his inauguration for a second term, Donald Trump declared on the “Dan Bongino Show”, a conservative podcast, that the negotiations would never have succeeded without the pressure of his team, in particular that of the future envoy for the Middle Orient, Steve Witkoff. “If we had not been involved in this agreement, it would never have happened,” assured Mr. Trump.

“We changed the course of things, and we changed it quickly, and frankly, it would be better if it was done before I was sworn in,” he added.

Israel’s security cabinet is due to meet on Friday to review the ceasefire agreement, which is expected to come into force on Sunday, the eve of Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration.

The conservative also criticized outgoing President Joe Biden for taking credit for the ceasefire deal, calling it “ungraceful.” “He didn’t do anything! If I had not done it, if we had not intervened, the hostages would never have been released,” he added. Last May, Mr. Biden proposed a truce agreement whose terms mirrored those of the agreement reached this week.
