Israeli army establishes ‘closed military zones’ in preparation for truce

Hezbollah accuses Israel of ‘hundreds of violations’ of truce

His speech, broadcast by Hezbollah television, Al-Manar, came while UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is in Lebanon, as the deadline for the full implementation of the law approaches. Ceasefire agreement on January 26.

“I call on the Lebanese state to show firmness in the face of these violations which have exceeded hundreds, this cannot continue”said Naim Qassem. “We have shown patience with the violations to give a chance to the Lebanese state, which is responsible for this agreement, and the international sponsors, but our patience should not be tested”he added.

The whereabouts of Naïm Qassem, who succeeded Hassan Nasrallah, who was killed by an Israeli strike at the end of September in the southern suburbs of Beirut, are unknown.

The ceasefire agreement stipulates that the Lebanese army must deploy alongside the peacekeepers in southern Lebanon, from where the Israeli army must withdraw over a period of 60 days, i.e. until January 26. Having emerged weakened from the war, Hezbollah must withdraw its forces north of the Litani River, approximately 30 kilometers from the Lebanese-Israeli border.
