The Pierre-Mauroy stadium was the scene of a clash between two teams in great shape during the 18th day of Ligue 1. Lille, 5th before the match, hosted Nice, 4th, in a promising shock. Both teams counted on their Moroccan talents: Ayyoub Bouaddi and Osame Sahraoui on the Lille side, while Sofiane Diop and Mohamed Ali-Cho defended the Nice colors. If Diop and Ali-Cho were starters, Sahraoui and Bouaddi entered during the game to bring their dynamism.
Nice dominated a first half marked by the efficiency of Sofiane Diop, who opened the scoring in the 29th minute, recovering a ball pushed back by Lucas Chevalier. Mohamed Ali-Cho also stood out with his sharp runs, putting the Lille defense in difficulty. However, the Mastiffs, under the leadership of Bruno Genesio, rectified the situation from the restart. Sahraoui’s entry immediately bore fruit: the Moroccan international participated in the action which allowed Haraldsson to equalize in the 48th minute.
Despite Nice’s efforts, Lille took the advantage and maintained its lead thanks to solid management at the end of the match, notably with the entry of Ayyoub Bouaddi to strengthen the midfield. The Mastiffs won 2-1, having a perfect week after qualifying for the Coupe de France against OM. With this victory, Lille climbs onto the podium, behind PSG and OM, while Nice falls in the standings despite a good collective performance.
