The case is as dramatic as it is atypical.
After three days of hearing behind closed doors in Nice, the Alpes-Maritimes juvenile court delivered its verdict: a mother and her daughter were found guilty of violence in a meeting leading to death without intention of causing it. Both received prison sentences.
The tragedy dates back to July 2019. The two women, respectively 35 and 16 years old at the time of the events, had a heated altercation with a neighbor over a dog, in a park in Les Moulins. Tensions then erupt between these residents of the neighborhood: the sixty-year-old is the target of kicks.
After her hospitalization in Pasteur during the day, the lady was found dead at her home. It was the day after the scene of violence that his body was discovered by his daughter, worried at not having heard from him for several hours.
-A few days later, the departmental security criminal brigade arrested the two suspects.
The court found the two accused guilty. The attorney general had requested eight years for the mother and five years, including one year suspended for the minor at the time of the facts. The mother is sentenced to six years’ imprisonment, with a deferred committal warrant.
His daughter was sentenced to five years, three of which were suspended. After having served a few days in pre-trial detention following her arrest in 2019, she should not return to prison, as this sentence is flexible.
