Emmanuel Macron announces that two Franco-Israeli hostages will be among the first freed

Emmanuel Macron announced that two Franco-Israelis, Ofer Kalderon and Ohad Yahalomi, are included in the list of first hostages released by Hamas.

The release of hostages planned in the first phase of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas should start on Sundaythe services of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced this Friday, January 17, 2025.

Subject to approval

“Subject to approval [de l’accord] by the security cabinet and the government, and the implementation of the agreement, the release of the hostages can take place according to the planned plan, the [premiers] hostages to be released on Sunday,” indicates a press release from Benjamin Netanyahu’s office.

According to two sources close to Hamas, the first group of hostages to be freed should be made up of three Israeli soldiers.

“Three female soldier prisoners will form the first group to be released in the first phase of the prisoner exchange agreement,” one of these sources told AFP, specifying that “this point [avait] was agreed in the last moments [des discussions] before the agreement is concluded.
