Météo has issued a yellow level meteorological vigilance situation to monitor for the “Rain floods” parameter of Saturday January 18 at 6 p.m. to Sunday January 19, 2025 at 6 p.m. at least

A rainy episode begins Saturday morning in the southern half of Corsica and intensifies during the afternoon, extending to all the eastern foothills of the island. The rain-snow limit is around 1400/1500 m. Precipitation continues until Sunday, only weakening in the evening.

The total rainfall expected over the entire episode (all weekend) is 40 to 60 mm generally on the eastern side of the island, 80 to 100 mm in the mountains but locally 120/140 mm see a little more in the region of Fiumorbo and Renoso.

Snow accumulations will be significant in the mountains above 1700/1800 m.

The Haute-Corse prefecture calls on the population to be extremely vigilant and reiterates the precautionary instructions:

  • Do not enter, on foot or by car, on a submerged path,
  • Respect the diversions put in place,
  • Do not shelter under the trees,
  • Respect the instructions given by the security services,
  • Avoid walks in the forest and outings in the mountains,
  • In flood-prone areas, keep furniture out of water and monitor rising water levels
  • Do not walk along the banks of rivers located downstream of dams,
  • Listen to the radio station France Bleu RCFM and France3 Corse Via Stella
