Jake Oettinger threw flowers to the Canadian after the match

Despite the Dallas Stars’ defeat against the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday night, Jake Oettinger, the Stars goalie, did not hesitate to compliment his opponent. After the 3-1 loss, he had good words to say about the team Martin St. Louis.

It’s crazy how much better they are since last year. They are so dangerous. Their power play is solid. Their top-6 is as good as anyone in the league. You give them space and they will make you pay.

The Canadian concluded his two-game road trip with a fourth consecutive victory on the road. Alex Newhook scored the winning goal by deflecting a shot from Lane Hutson in the third period, while the rookie goalie Jakub Dobes impressed with 32 saves. Joel Armia sealed the outcome of the game with an empty-net goal, his 100th career NHL goal.

The Habs now have an impressive record of 11-2-1 in their last 14 meetings. The Stars suffered only their second defeat in regulation time over this same period of time. So, Oettinger’s comments highlight just how serious a threat the Canadian has become this season.

I thought the guys blocked some big shots. They are making sacrifices for something that is bigger than themselves.
