While he was Frédérick Sigrist’s guest on the radio show Blockbusters on France Inter, in July 2022, the creator of Miraculous has been asked about his favorite cartoon characters, and more precisely the characters he likes “especially writing”.

They’re pretty nice, they try to do good, they do stupid things but they still try to… There you go, I like positive characters like that ».

And to conclude: “It’s true that life is not necessarily always very rosy and so I still find it good to have characters like that”.

And, while the host pointed out to him that dark characters were often highlighted in our time, the creator of Miraculous admitted not to be “in this delirium”. As proof, He revealed his favorite superhero was Superman.

“My favorite superhero is Superman because I love its exemplarity, its iconicity. I could talk about it for hours.” admits Thomas Astruc. Before explaining: “There is this very exemplary dimension of Superman whose, ultimately, the real superpower is not all the superpowers he has but it is his values, his humanity which is greater than that of the humans in the middle. from which he lives. It’s a little bit like the character of Astro Boy, it’s a little bit like the character of Conan (…) These are characters who can serve as guides ».
