G7 calls on parties to ensure “full implementation” of Gaza truce
The leaders of the G7 countries on Thursday called the agreement for a truce in Gaza “important news” and called on Hamas and Israel to work towards its “full implementation.”
“We urge all parties to constructively negotiate subsequent phases of the agreement, to ensure its full implementation and a definitive end to hostilities,” they said in a statement.
The ceasefire agreement, which provides for the exchange of Israeli hostages for Palestinian prisoners, must be approved by the Israeli security cabinet before coming into force, the conditions for a permanent end to the war which must then be negotiated.
