Broadcaster NRK today revealed the 9 artists who will participate in the final of the “Melodi Grand Prix 2025”, during a special broadcast from the NRK studios in Marienlyst in Oslo. These artists will compete in a single final for the opportunity to represent Norway at Eurovision 2025 in Basel, Switzerland, next May. Marte Stokstad, Tete Lidbom and Markus Neby, hosts of this new season, presented all the participants of this edition.
Here is the list of the 9 finalists and their respective songs:
Bobbysocks – «Joyful»
Legendary group celebrating 40 years since their victory at Eurovision 1985. Their song “Joyful”, composed by Elisabeth Andreassen with lyrics by Hanne Krogh, advocates joy and strength in the face of hardship.
Kyle Alessandro – «Lighter»
At only 18 years old, Kyle was inspired by his mother’s victorious fight against cancer to write this moving title, an anthem to hope and inner light.
Ladybug – «Hot as Hell in Paradise»
Coming from the island of Lovund, Ladybug offers a daring song about forbidden love and self-affirmation. The song invites us to overcome prejudices to embrace our desires.
LLL – «Parasite»
This female trio promises an explosion of pop with “Parasite,” which talks about inner struggles while chasing your dreams. Inspired by pop icons of the 90s and 2000s, they want to mark a new generation.
Nataleen – «The Game»
Discovery in The VoiceNataleen explores themes of strategy and emotion in this song co-written with renowned producers. A powerful and personal performance.
Nora Jabri – «Sulale»
Inspired by her Norwegian and Arab origins, Nora presents a declaration of love to her paternal culture. “Sulale”, meaning “lineage”, evokes a dialogue between father and daughter.
Sondrey – «Vagabond»
This artist mixes R&B and Afrobeat with catchy melodies. His song celebrates freedom and exploration, in a touching and universal style.
Tone Damli – “Last Song”
After being revealed by Idol in 2005, Tone returned with a dynamic song that revealed a new facet of his talent. “Last Song” is full of positive energy.
Wig Wam – «Human Fire»
The legendary glam rockers celebrate 20 years of career with an energetic and affirming anthem. “Human Fire” pays tribute to those who embrace their true nature.
-This edition marks the return of Bobbysocks (???? 1985) and Wig Wam (6e in 2005).
A tenth artist, Lavrans Svendsen, was initially planned as a finalist, but he withdrew shortly before the official announcement of the participants. Lavrans, originally from Fredrikstad, made his name thanks to “The Voice” last year, where he finished in second place. The final will therefore bring together 9 artists.

Removal of semi-finals
NRK has decided to remove the semi-finals for this edition and return to a single final, a first since 2019. In addition, the “Melodi Grand Prix 2025” will take place at the Oslo Spektrum Arena, marking a return to this venue iconic for the first time since 2018.
A surprise last place in 2024
The group Gåte won the 2024 edition of the “Melodi Grand Prix” with the song Ulveham. However, against all odds, he finished in last place in the final with a total score of 16 points (23e of the jury with 12 points, 24e televoting with 4 points). This marks the twelfth time that Norway has occupied this position since its debut in the competition. Will 2025 be a better year for Norway?
