In an interview given to Varietythe singer returned to the tragedy which turned his life and that of his sons upside down, as if “a bomb had ravaged everything”.
The fires, which continue to ravage Los Angeles County, have destroyed the homes of several European artists who called California home. Among them, Patrick Bruel who owned a house in Pacific Palisades, purchased on the advice of his friend Johnny Hallyday.
In the middle of last week, the singer recounted his misadventures on social networks. « The only assurance to which we cannot subscribe is that of the emotion, of the memories, of the objects, of the perfumes… and of the silences which surrounded this house which goes up in smoke. (…) It’s very hard to see the roots that we have such difficulty building disappearing. It was a nice anchor, another refuge. »
In an interview given to Variety , Patrick Bruel once again evokes the disaster. « It’s difficult for me to talk about it in the past tense. I was there five days ago. It’s very upsettingdeclared the singer. I had left the day before and my son was there. He was going to the airport. He said to me: “Am I going home? I’ll try to save some things, maybe there’s time?” I replied: “No way, don’t even think about it.” The first thing he thought of was getting back his childhood stuffed animals. It was an obsession for him. »

Media focused on celebrities
The singer also says he is surprised by the media coverage of the disaster: « So much media focuses so much on famous people and the value of their homes, because behind those headlines there are lives, families, stories, memories, things that don’t necessarily have a price ».
A situation which seems particularly difficult for the French singer to overcome: « For us, it’s very hard, because it’s like turning over a new leaf. The children are deeply sad not to have been able to say goodbye to their house, their objects, their family photos and their drawings. » Since the fire stopped attacking the singer’s house, the latter and his sons have been able to walk through the rubble virtually. « Every object, every corner, every memory, everything we have lived in. It was an important house for us. It was an anchor point, another refuge. It was one of the places I truly felt at home. » During this interview, the artist described« apocalyptic » the aerial view of the city, before concluding: « It feels like a bomb has devastated everything ».
