The defender returns from MLS with a two-year contract. Although the player had already signed earlier, the club made the information official this Wednesday.
Barcelona SC officially announced the signing of Xavier Arreaga as reinforcement for the 2025 season. The central defender had already signed his contract before, but the club announced it this Wednesday.
“Barcelona Sporting Club has reached an agreement with professional Xavier Arreaga to join the first football team,” the club said in an official statement.

“There is nothing like coming home,” Arreaga says in an institutional video.
“Along the way, I’ve learned a lot, gained confidence and experience, and it’s time to get back to where I came from,” he added.

The defender arrives as a free agent, with a contract for the next two seasons, the club confirmed.
Arreaga (30) was a champion with Barcelona in 2016, playing with the club until 2019, when he joined MLS, first with the Seattle Sounders and then in 2024 with the New England Revolution.
The player joined pre-season training at Manta this afternoon, working under Segundo coach Alejandro Castillo.
