Mark Lawrenson has been linked with a move to Newcastle United.
The former Liverpool defender speaking before the match at St James’ Park on Wednesday evening.
Newcastle United have played twenty-six matches in total (all competitions) so far this season.
Sixteen wins, five draws and five defeats.
Now ready to face Wolves at home.
Mark Lawrenson speaking to Paddy Power ahead of Newcastle v Wolves:
“Wolves were dismantled by Nottingham Forest the other night, it doesn’t seem like the manager change has worked but it’s early and Forest have been really good.
“Newcastle are in excellent form and I would be very surprised if they don’t win.
“Prediction: Newcastle 2 Wolves 1”
I wouldn’t disagree with Mark Lawrenson’s match outcome prediction, although I hope it’s a more comfortable winning score (I’d take any kind of victory though!).
He is, however, a little harsh on new Wolves boss Vitor Pereira, who took charge less than four weeks ago. In their five matches (all competitions), Wolves have won three, drawn one and lost just this game against Forest.
Mark Lawrenson was a little late in accepting how well United had played, although he finally caught up with that fact before our final Premier League game.
« Newcastle vole. They could and should have beaten Manchester United by much more than the final score 2-0.
“Newcastle’s three players in midfield are very good and they are a very, very difficult team to beat now.
« Prediction : Tottenham 1 Newcastle 2 »
Interesting and fun though to watch what Mark Lawrenson had to say ahead of Newcastle’s previous two Premier League matches before Spurs.
Ahead of the Manchester United 0 Newcastle United 2 match, Mark Lawrenson said:
“Newcastle had that gift against Villa but it could be a bit of a stalemate.
« Prédiction : Man U 1 Newcastle United 1 »
While before Newcastle 3 Aston Villa 0, Mark Lawrenson had this to say…:
“Newcastle have had some big wins. But I will side with Aston Villa. They’re back on the bus now and they’re a great team when they’re on it. Prediction: Newcastle 1 Aston Villa 2″
