Annie Sourzat and her municipal council invited the inhabitants of Ussel on Saturday January 11 to come and draw kings. It was an opportunity to wish the population a Happy New Year.
“If we have legitimate reasons to be concerned about the progress of the world, we must also see, with good reason, the quality of life that is ours, here in Ussel, and in general in the metropolis,” underlined the mayor.
On the demographic side, the population of the village is increasing, going from 79 in 2011 to 98 inhabitants in 2022. “Some have left us, but in 2024 we also had the joy of welcoming Iris and June, and we hope that 2025 will see new inhabitants settle in Ussel…”
Annie Sourzat spoke of the achievements of 2024. The village did not have its own fire defense and the installation of two poles, one of which at Cap del Liot, now makes it possible to have this resource as close as possible to the village, with a financial participation of the community of municipalities.
“In 2025, we will carry out some work on the house on rue Auricoste. This building purchased by the municipality in 2019, needs improvements before being put back for rental. Also underway is the study of the lighting of the village, for which Territoire Énergie Lot was requested. Interventions on the candelabra should allow greater efficiency; we are also implementing the “starred village” label which registers our name. village in a desire for environmental protection.”
For Ussel, 2025 will be the year of the implementation of the local intercommunal urban planning plan which will be subject to public inquiry at the end of the second quarter, and to the approval of the municipalities at the end of 2025. “We must already respect very strict rules. strict urbanization and the RAIN will hardly be any different!” explained the mayor.
Annie Sourzat also wanted to be reassuring regarding the implementation of the Waste Pass, in the Syded recycling centers. It will become necessary for individuals from April to go to a recycling center. “The objective is to better control attendance, waste volumes and associated costs.”
On a cultural level, 2024 delighted the village with various performances including Nadine Algudo and her recital (Barbara and Piaf), 2025 will not be left out. “We will see Nadine again with a jazz concert (Ella Fitzgerald), but also a show (the Brel, Brassens, Ferré meeting) in summer. Like every year, the village festival will take place at the end of July. Let us highlight the participation of the CCQB which regularly offers free exhibitions or concerts to residents, or both!”
This cultural program is part of the natural site of the Amphitheater. In 2025, the wish of François and Rose Rajade, who want the Amphitheater to become part of the town’s heritage, will come true. “Let them be thanked because it is a generous donation that we will probably honor with the complicity of the baritone Jacques François L’oiseleur des Longchamps,” announced the mayor.
“These initiatives reflect our village, modest, but in line with our quality of life. And as the means are modest, we choose responsible and secure management.” In this context, the mayor thanked the associations and all those who participate in the animation of the village. She launched an appeal to all goodwill and private initiatives: “We need everyone’s help to keep the town alive.”
