With the functioning of associations under threat, what will become of this essential structure for the care of young children?
“It is an associative crèche managed by an office, in particular a president and a secretary who, although far from the crèche personally, have continued their commitment for six years due to lack of buyers,” explains Hélène Joachim, elected to the youth. Despite alerts about financial problems and their decision not to run again, the general assemblies were poorly attended.”
During the general meeting last December, a turning point emerged. Several parents responded, alongside representatives of the town hall and the community of communes of the Bassin Auterivain (CCBA). However, no parent wanted to take over management of the office.
“Faced with this impasse, it was essential to request support from the CCBA,” explains Hélène Joachim. A future still uncertain, despite an agreement reached to avoid an immediate closure of the crèche, which welcomes 25 children and concerns 41 families, more than 60% of whom reside in Lagardelle.
“The resigning office will temporarily continue to manage it, while awaiting a lasting solution. The intermunicipality is considering two options: taking over the crèche under direct management or calling on a service provider. Closure is ruled out in the short term,” says the elected official. . The future of the Petits Canaillous crèche remains unresolved.
