MrBeast ready to buy TikTok? We’re not done with this damn story

While TikTok risks an imminent ban in the United States, YouTuber star MrBeast says he is ready to buy the platform to avoid being banned. Behind what seemed like a joke lie serious discussions with investors. An operation which could, perhaps, change the future of the application and strengthen the influence of the content creator.

But who is MrBeast?

MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, has established himself as a key figure on YouTube thanks to his spectacular and sometimes charitable videos. With over 300 million subscribers and an estimated annual income of $54 million, he is currently the highest-paid content creator in the world. On Sunday evening, he sparked a wave of reactions by tweeting at »

What initially seemed like a joke quickly took a more serious turn. The next day, Donaldson claimed to have been contacted by billionaires interested in buying TikTok. According to TMZ, his team is currently speaking with several groups of investors who are looking to acquire the platform’s American operations. If such a transaction goes through, MrBeast could become a minority shareholder and play a role in the future development of TikTok.

Why is TikTok under threat in the United States?

We often tell you about it, the application, used by around 170 million Americans, is in the crosshairs of the American authorities. Congress passed a law requiring TikTok to spin off its Chinese parent company, ByteDance, by January 19, 2025. This measure aims to protect the data of American userswith the government fearing that China could access this information or influence public opinion.

TikTok tried to oppose this decision by going to the Supreme Court, but the judges appear ready to back Congress. Without a sale to American investors, the application could be banned from the territory.

Alternatives under discussion

In addition to the discussions surrounding MrBeast, rumors are circulating about a possible takeover by Elon Musk, owner of X. ByteDance clarified that this option was not considered, but in any case, partial sale to US investor could allow TikTok to circumvent ban.

With the deadline looming, TikTok’s future in the United States is uncertain. It remains to be seen if MrBeast, known for transforming his crazy ideas into concrete projectscould actually get involved in this operation, which would be frankly improbable.
