An operation to protect the commune of Zighoud Youcef, about thirty kilometers north-east of Constantine, against flooding, has just been launched, we learned the day before yesterday, Tuesday January 14, from wilaya services. The study for the implementation of this project, which is of capital interest for this local community, has already begun, underlined the same source, specifying that a deadline of six months has been set for the completion of the study and the launch of protection works against the risk of flooding. The protection of the commune of Zighoud Youcef against flooding will target an area of nearly 500 hectares, according to the explanations provided by the same source which indicated that the operation was among the main demands of the citizens of this commune. This project will touch the various points representing flood dangers, explained the same source who indicated that this operation is part of a national program to protect cities against floods. The commune of Zighoud Youcef had previously been affected by flooding due to persistent black spots and which will have to be taken care of as part of this operation, it was indicated.
