A building in Visp was engulfed in flames during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday.
After fires in Monthey and Sierre, this time it was a building in Visp in the canton of Valais which fell prey to flames last night. It was around 2:30 in the morning. A fire which left two injured. Residents of the building who had to be taken to hospital for checks after being exposed to smoke gas.
Around 20 people evacuated
Around 20 people were also temporarily evacuated, as were neighbors. It was the attic of the building which was damaged by the disaster according to the Valais cantonal police. An investigation by the public prosecutor has been opened to determine the causes.

On Wednesday January 15, 2025, a fire broke out in a building on Bahnhofstrasse in Visp. Around twenty people had to be evacuated. Two people were taken to Visp hospital for checks.
Shortly after 2:30 a.m., the Valais cantonal police dispatch center was notified of a fire in a building located on Bahnhofstrasse in Visp.
Quickly, in addition to the cantonal police, the Organization Cantonale Valaisanne des Secours was mobilized with several ambulances from the Haut-Valais health service and an emergency doctor. The Visp, Brig and Lonza firefighters as well as the Visp regional police also intervened.
The intervention forces were able to bring the fire under control around 4:30 a.m. For safety reasons, around twenty people living in the building, as well as a few neighbors, were evacuated. The latter have since been able to return to their accommodation.
Two people were taken to Visp hospital for a check-up after being exposed to smoke gases.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office has opened an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the fire.
