Is sugar hidden in low-cost products? Yes, according to a study revealed by the Foodwatch organization, sugar in large quantities is found in salty products.
They are good for your budget, but are budget brand products also beneficial for your health? On the shelves, these are generally the cheapest products: distributor brands, first prices, etc. References that we must be wary of, according to an NGO which is warning. Some of them are said to contain much more sugar than their national brand equivalent. “It’s something I’ve never really looked at because I don’t wonder if there’s sugar in peas, for example.”explains a consumer. But others are more careful: “The less good it is for health, the cheaper it is. The better it is, the more quality it is, the more we will have to pay”explains another user of mass distribution.
Cheaper mayonnaise jars are four times sweeter than the most expensive options, twice as sweet for guacamole and one and a half times for peas. According to a study by the health safety agency covering 54,000 processed products, 77% of them contain at least one sweetening ingredient.
