The objective is to improve knowledge of this river and strengthen the culture of risk.
After the floods of 2002, EPTB Vidourle launched, as part of the Vidourle Flood Prevention Action Program (PAPI Vidourle), a flood risk awareness program for schools. Thus, the operation proposed by the EPTB allows CE2, CM1 and 5th grade students to benefit from one day per year of awareness raising and educational interventions punctuated by discovery outings, role plays, scientific experiments and models.
Following the call for applications launched at the start of the school year, the Condamine school located in Sommières requested the EPTB to benefit from these activities.
Thus, on Monday January 6, 2025, around a 3D model representing the Vidourle watershed, the students of the CM1 class of the La Condamine school in Sommières positioned roads, dikes, houses, bridges and then caused a flood in order to see the damage caused to the various developments. This allowed the children to appreciate the importance of the proper functioning of the facilities and to better understand the phenomenon of Vidourle floods, commonly called “Vidourlades”. During various thematic workshops, the students also addressed the phenomenon of the formation of Cévennes rains through the water cycle and learned the safety instructions in the event of flooding.
