NHL: Adrian Kempe pays for his action on Connor McDavid

Adrian Kempe was fined $5,000 for his actions against Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid in Monday’s game.

This is the maximum amount provided for in the collective agreement.

The incident occurred during the third period when the Los Angeles Kings forward and McDavid were battling for the puck along the boards, and Kempe legged him with his right foot to tip him over (slew-foot).

There was no penalty called on the play and the Oilers walked away with the victory, 1-0.

Kempe, who is 28 years old, has 39 points in 41 games this season with the Kings. McDavid is the most recent recipient of the Hart Trophy and he has 17 goals for a total of 59 points in 40 games this year.

The Kings are third in the Pacific Division with a 24-12-5 record, four points behind the Oilers, who have played two more games.
