two adaptations of Les Misérables will see the light of day in 2025

After Alexandre Dumas, is it Victor Hugo’s turn to experience a burst of popularity?

We learned yesterday in a press release that Grégory Gadebois was going to play Jean Valjean in an upcoming film. The film, directed by Éric Besnard (who made the recent Louise Violet), will tell the origin of the character of Misérables in this case. Filming takes place between January 14 and February 27.

A project which is added to the one we already knew where Vincent Lindon will also play Valjean, in a more literal adaptation of the famous book, in a feature film which will be filmed this summer and directed by Fred Cavayé (who recently do Farewell Mr Haffmann et The Goats!).

We will probably have to wait until 2026 to see these two features, and see the difference between the two.
