In California, firefighters have been battling massive fires for a week, Wednesday January 15. They face difficult weather conditions.

The first minutes of the fire that hit Altadena (California, United States) on January 7 were filmed by a resident. Within thirty minutes, the sky turned red and residents had to evacuate. For a week, firefighters have been fighting tirelessly against the flames which continue to devastate Los Angeles (United States). To the west of the city, helicopters were mobilized throughout the night to prevent the fire from gaining ground.

Uncontrollable winds are still blowing through the city and part of Southern California was placed on red alert on Wednesday, January 15. Tens of thousands of people are still without electricity. “Forecast winds combined with low humidity levels will keep the fire threat in the Los Angeles area at a critical level”explains Los Angeles County Fire Chief Anthony Marrone. According to a new report, 25 people lost their lives in these fires.
