“We didn’t expect it,” rejoices Alexandre Silvain, 38, who has been in the profession since he was 13. Its establishment, Le garage du Morvan, in Brassy, is included in the list of the best garages in France 2025, published by the specialist magazine, Autoplus.
“It makes us happy,” slips the Morvandiau mechanic who sees it as recognition of his work as well as that of his employee, Romain Picot, 35 years old. “We do our job as usual,” describes the manager, mentioned for the first time in the ranking.
“We try to share our know-how when we have time on social networks.” A time that is not always easy to find for Alexandre Silvain and Romain Picot. “We have people,” slips the manager.
In the Morvan, mechanics are not found at every turn either. “We have people who come from 30, even 35 kilometers. We do agricultural mechanics, tillage, two wheels, quads, etc.” As with many garages, the reputation of the structure was made through word of mouth. “It’s what makes us public.”
840 garages rewarded, only one from Nivernais
To produce its ranking, for the fourth consecutive year, Autoplus partnered with the analysis institute, Le Terrain and the reservation platform idGarages.com. A wide range which brings together nearly 30,000 professionals from the French market.
“The selection focused on the 840 best among them. In other words, those having obtained a score between 8.5 and 10/10,” explains Autoplus. The Morvan garage obtained a score of 9.79.
In parallel with qualitative questions, Auto Plus studied the practices of “consumers”. “To make your choice, you favor direct research within the network of your vehicle brand. This will reach a rate of 40% in 2024. But advice from those around you also plays a preponderant role (24.5% of respondents) as the primary source of information, search engines complete the podium, in third position,” describes the media.
