Fires in California: three people arrested on suspicion of arson

A federal investigation was opened Tuesday to determine the causes of the fires in Los Angeles, US federal authorities announced. However, this will take time, added the ATF, the agency in charge of this investigation.

The latest report from the Californian authorities shows 25 deaths. Los Angeles police say at least 13 people are still missing in Palisades, but they are not presumed dead.

The situation remains precarious on site: gusts of up to 110 km/h on Wednesday morning could further fan the flames. Parts of Los Angeles County and neighboring Ventura County have been placed in “particularly dangerous situation” status.

With the fires hitting California, the United States is facing “one of the biggest losses of works of art” in its history
