The Aiglons won on the field of Bastia (0-1) this Tuesday evening, during the round of 16 of the Coupe de France.
Remaining on a good series of twelve games without defeat on its Armand Cesari lawn, Bastia approached this match against the Nice rival with a lot of ambitions. However, the Aiglons are also in good shape and are in fourth place in Ligue1. A supposed superiority that the Niçois confirmed from the start of the match by circulating the ball well against a Corsican team who did not want to take any risks. Little by little, the match became balanced and the Bastiais, by managing to put some rhythm into the game, managed to destabilize the Nice block. However, no big chances except a long shot from Vincent (8th) and a multitude of corners for the Bastiais who failed to take advantage of them. Nice then got their foot back on the ball, forcing Tomi’s teammates to cower in their camp. Guessand (17th) and Bard (30th) caused a slight chill in the Bastia surface but nothing really dangerous. The pace of the match had dropped and Nice continued to control the ball when Bastia had the biggest opportunity of the first half. At the conclusion of a quickly carried out counter, Boutrah collapsed in the area in contact with Mendy and the referee whistled a penalty. Boutrah wanted to take justice into his own hands but his cross shot was well repelled by Dupé, who started on the right side (45th). The Corsicans had just missed a great opportunity to open the score just before returning to the locker room.

Returning from the locker room, Nice gained momentum against the Corsicans who seemed to be less physically fit. More technically comfortable, the Aiglons put the pressure on with a shot from Moukoko repelled by Fabri (48th) then an attempt from Rosario (49th) among others while on the Corsican side, it was very poor. So no real surprise when Cho opened the scoring after magnificent work from Guessand (0-1, 61st). The Aiglons then only had to manage their lead thanks to a collective mastery superior to the Corsicans who were still going to attempt a last stand at the end of the match. Magiotti, who had just come into play, woke up the crowd with a superb curling free kick from 20 meters which forced Dupé to shine with a beautiful tap to score a corner (87th). Little in demand, the Nice goalkeeper was decisive on two occasions. Nothing more happened and Nice validated its qualification for the round of 16 without shining. For Bastia, the adventure ends but the Corsicans have intermittently shown some real good things, which is rather encouraging for the rest of the season.
