It’s already time for the round of 16 of this Coupe de France. In addition to the clash between OM and LOSC, the draw reserved another duel between Ligue 1 teams. Monaco went to Reims which had all the makings of a complicated match. This feeling could have been stifled with the first situations of Embolo (1st) then of Ben Seghir (5th) but it was finally quickly confirmed after Singo’s injury exit in the 8th minute. ASM’s good start to the match ended abruptly, giving way to a somewhat sterile confrontation. Only Kehrer intervened well in front of Munetsi (28th), then Kipré improved this free kick from Teuma to open the scoring just before the break (1-0, 45th+1).

Adi Hütter took advantage of half-time to change his plans. He brought in Teze and especially the new recruit, Mika Biereth. Monaco immediately became more enterprising, not more realistic, however. Embolo was still missing (55th), while Okumu sacrificed himself in front of him in the process (57th). Minamino missed the mark in his turn (60th) and it was finally on a cross from Biereth that Salisu ended up equalizing with a header (1-1, 70th). ASM continued its effort without ever managing to take the advantage (Embolo 90th+3). Even on penalties, realism was lacking for the Asemists since Caio Henrique, Biereth and Camara in turn missed their attempt, offering the Champenois the ticket for the next round (1-1, 3-1 tab).
Nice qualifies at the expense of Bastia, feat of Dives-Cabourg
Another match expected this Tuesday, the always special confrontation between Bastia (L2) and Nice. Faced with a largely overhauled Riviera team, the Corsicans tried to take the match into their own hands like the strikes of Vincent (8th) then Guidi (16th). Despite a save from the same Bastia defender, the Gym struggled and conceded a penalty, repelled by the excellent Dupé in front of Boutrah (44th). Sporting will long regret its missed opportunities since upon returning from the locker room, Cho gave Nice the advantage following excellent work from Guessand (0-1, 62nd). Both teams had the situations to change the score but it was the Gym which passed.

Three other meetings took place in parallel, like the National 3 team, Dives-Cabourg, which hosted Le Puy, 2nd in its National 2 group. Obviously, the Montpellier striker in the previous round took on the role of favorite but it is indeed the Calvados club which won 1-0. He performs the evening and will be in the next round. For its part, Guingamp was led twice by Sochaux but was able to find the resources each time to equalize and qualify on penalties (2-2, 9-8 tab). Finally, Le Mans led for a long time against Valenciennes but also needed the fateful session to validate its ticket for the round of 16 (1-1, 4-3 tab).
