Fires in California have killed 24 people in Los Angeles. Some neighborhoods are cordoned off to prevent residents from taking the risk of returning home.

Two residents of the Encino neighborhood, in Los Angeles (California), walk down their street in a hurry, Monday January 13. They flee their home, because the fire is just on the other side of the mountain. The couple took simple suitcases, clothes and plans for their house. The fires which have already ravaged 12,000 homes are distressing the residents of Los Angeles (California).

Today, some neighborhoods are deserted. The neighborhoods already burned by the fire are deserted, because their owners cannot access the ruins. Others had to be evacuated. The police, and even the army, guard the entrance to these areas. Inside these areas are empty streets and boarded-up houses. Some homeowners left the sprinkler on to protect their homes. As a precaution, several museums and schools have closed.
