Daniel Sanders won another victory at the 2025 Dakar this Sunday. The Red Bull KTM rider beat Tosha Schareina (Monster Energy Honda) by 3m47s and now leads the general classification with a margin of 15m33s over the Spaniard.
In statements to the race website, the Australian said: ‘It was very fast, really fast. Technically at the beginning we had a lot of rain – but that was only at the beginning. Then there was a very wet path to see ahead and I had no choice but to correct and not follow the mistakes with navigation. So, it wasn’t too bad; focus was good, speed was good, head was clear, so it was a much better day compared to yesterday’.
For this stage, Sanders adjusted his bike’s suspension, making it easier to ride: ‘I made some small adjustments to the suspension, made it a little stiffer for the sand, so that helped a lot today; it was a little easier to fly. It was a crazy day’.
One of the riders who fought at the front was Luciano Benavides, also from Red Bull KTM. Sanders downplayed being teammates: ‘It’s simply another opponent, there is no difference in competing with teammates. We’re here to try to win, and we’re doing everything we can to put ourselves in the best position to do so.’.
