The Epte, a tributary of the Seine, surrounds the town of Gisors with its two arms. The water in the arm which crosses the city center receded this Saturday, January 11. The other part takes longer to drop in the streets and basements of houses in a residential area on the Coty street side.
The city’s firefighters and technical services are hard at work. We have to pump the water from the cellars. The city center’s merchants set about cleaning, squeegee and mop in hand.
Traders must also evacuate furniture and goods damaged by water. “The entire floor needs to be redone.” observes Charlène in her business.
“We think of them, because it’s the sales period” says Nicolas Veyer, general director of Gisors services.
