Alma Mazda has just changed hands. Laval Boulianne confirmed to Journal Le Lac-St-Jean that he has acquired the car dealership located on avenue du Pont Sud.
The well-known businessman specified that the documents formalizing the sale of the business were signed just after Christmas with the current owner of the Mazda dealership, Mélanie Gagné, and her uncle Réjean Gagné. Laval Boulianne did not want to reveal the precise amount of the transaction, but he acknowledged that it amounts to millions of dollars.
“It’s always expensive. I won’t tell you how much, but it’s a bit crazy in the automotive world, because it’s a market that’s highly coveted by a lot of people. The transaction includes buildings, land and all equipment. »
Laval Boulianne, who already owns Mercedes-Benz Saguenay as well as Saguenay Volkswagen and Alma Volkswagen, anticipates that he should take control of Alma Mazda by the end of February at the latest.
There are still details to be resolved, he says, particularly with Mazda, which he will do with his business partner Daniel Côté.
Two neighboring concessions
His desire to buy this other dealership, which has just come to fruition, is due in particular to the fact that Alma Volkswagen is a neighbor of Alma Mazda. “My particular interest is that by being right next to each other, there is synergy to be had. We will be able to combine services, help each other and take full advantage of our respective spaces. »
Laval Boulianne says he is very proud to have succeeded in concluding this transaction after several years of effort. “I’ve been talking with Réjean Gagné for 4 to 5 years. I called him every year, but he wasn’t ready. Two weeks before Christmas, I wanted to call him, but he ended up calling me. We met 7 to 8 times and finally reached an agreement. »
Employees met
Alma Mazda currently has around a dozen employees. The businessman adds that they have already met to be informed of the change of ownership. And even if he has just acquired his 4e car dealership in the region, in addition to the other businesses he owns, Laval Boulianne suggests that this may not be his last.
“There are still other possibilities that we are looking at,” confides the businessman in closing, “but I prefer not to talk about them for the moment. »
