January 11, 2020, Maxime Chéry, 35, Force Ouvrière union delegate, was found dead in the E. Leclerc hypermarket in Vandoeuvre-lès-Nancy. A handgun is near his lifeless body. The act took place around 5 a.m. Since that date, the FO union and those close to it have been mobilizing in front of the sign in the suburbs of Nancy. This Saturday, January 11, 2025, they were once again present at the entrance to the store as a souvenir so as not to forget the events and to take stock of the progress of the legal case.
An employee of the brand for 17 years, the employee took care to leave a letter in which he talks about his unbearable suffering at work. Directly targeted: an executive, responsible for the “consumer products” department within the hypermarket.
“For us, Maxime was harassed by his hierarchy with the support of management” said Frédéric Nicolas, secretary general of FO Meurthe-et-Moselle at the microphone of France 3 Lorraine, “we wait for justice to be done. The VANDIS company which operates Leclerc de Vandoeuvre is referred to the criminal court for endangerment and its manager, its N+2, is for his part referred for involuntary manslaughter and moral harassment. It is unacceptable for an employee to kill themselves because of their work.“.
The trial date is not yet known.
