his parents demand an agreement for his release

In a video released on Saturday January 4 by the armed wing of Hamas, Liri Albag, a 19-year-old Israeli hostage, appears in tears, head in her hands. She calls on Israel to act for her release, more than four hundred and fifty days after her kidnapping while she was doing her military service at the Nahal Oz base, in southern Israel.

His parents reacted in another video, broadcast by several media including The Guardian, urging Israel to reach a deal to release the hostages. “It’s high time. There are Liri and 99 other hostages who must return home,” alerted Shira and Eli Albag. According to the website of the American press agency Bloomberg, around a hundred hostages, alive or dead, are still in Gaza.

“We are fighting for you”

Monday January 6, “a Saudi media [le quotidien Asharq Al-Awsat] made public a list of 34 names of Israeli hostages held in Gaza and likely to be released upon the conclusion of a hypothetical ceasefire agreement with Hamas,” teaches us The Times of Israel. At the negotiating table, the United States wants to obtain an agreement before Joe Biden leaves the White House, observes Bloomberg. But, before signing, Israel says it wants to know the state of health of the 34 hostages.

Shortly after the list was published, four hostage families held a press conference in Tel Aviv, also urging the Israeli government to “bring home all the hostages, whether alive or not,” reports the Times of Israel.

Liri Albag’s parents remain hopeful. “If she sees this video, I want to tell Liri: we are fighting for you, we are not abandoning you, you will come home, and alive.”
