Getting married in Saint-Pierre and Miquelon: “so romantic” say these couples who have come from far away to unite in the archipelago. Nova Scotia, Quebec, Newfoundland or mainland , a dozen marriages have been celebrated between two people not residing in the archipelago over the last fifteen years. Without any particular ties here, they nevertheless chose Saint-Pierre and Miquelon to call themselves “oui”.

Ceremonies made possible by a 2009 law, which exempts couples from the residence requirement to be able to marry in most overseas communities. This also concerns people of foreign nationality.
