Its amount is calculated based on several criteria such as CO2 emissions, but also tax horses. It is the regions which set the price, and for 2025, several of them have decided to go up to the maximum ceiling of 60 euros per tax horse in a context of all-out savings and the absence of a new budget. This is the case for Normandy, Brittany and Centre-Val de Loire.
The increase will be particularly felt in Normandy, where the price of the registration document for a car with a power of 5 HP will increase from 230 to 300 euros. Corsica, New Aquitaine, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Aur and Grand Est have also planned an increase. Ile-de-France did it last year.
