Citizens of the greater Quebec City region will have to swap their toques for an umbrella over the next few hours.
Up to 40 millimeters of rain are expected to fall on the Capitale-Nationale by Monday evening, while 10 to 20 millimeters are expected in Chaudière-Appalaches, according to a warning issued by Environment Canada.
At the end of Saturday afternoon, the federal agency anticipated that freezing rain would begin in the evening in Quebec.
Temperatures are expected to stay near freezing on Sunday so we expect intermittent freezing drizzle throughout the day.

The icy weather is expected to give way to rain on Sunday evening, when temperatures will be above freezing.
In these mild conditions, snow melting will be accelerated
and water could accumulate in certain places, indicates the federal agency.
A cover of ice could also settle on roads, streets, sidewalks and parking lots, making them more slippery.
Quebec says it is ready
Questioned on Friday, the spokesperson for the City of Quebec, Jean-Pascal Lavoie, wanted to be reassuring by affirming that the City was ready to receive all this precipitation.

It’s like during a snow removal operation. We have teams who are on standby and ready to intervene as soon as the need arises.
To limit the accumulation of water and the formation of ice in the streets, the spokesperson encourages citizens to clear sewer vents or to call 311 to report any obstruction of the network.
As for Environment Canada, it recommends that motorists reduce their speed, monitor the taillights of vehicles in front of them while maintaining a safe distance from them during the precarious weather conditions that are expected.
