Bormio: First overall, “Odi” can already knock out the competition

Marco Odermatt has taken over the overall World Cup standings.

The Nidwalden, who scored two consecutive victories before Christmas, in the downhill at Val Gardena and in the giant at Alta Badia, can take advantage of the Bormio stage to take off.

A descent then a super-G are planned for Saturday and Sunday in the Valteline resort, which Marco Odermatt will be happy to meet again. He has indeed won the last two super-G contested on the Stelvio track (in 2022 and 2023), and twice finished 2nd in downhill (in 2021 and 2023).

Winner in the downhill a year earlier, Cyprien Sarrazin was to be his great rival again but he fell heavily on Friday in training. The Valaisan Justin Murisier hopes to confirm his success at Beaver Creek in the discipline, he who finished 4th last year in Bormio. Mattia Casse or Cameron Alexander can also play the leading roles.
