Six months after his departure from Anderlecht, Kasper Schmeichel is still shocked by the Pro League: “The chaos” – All football

Thanks to Kasper Schemeichel, our Pro League has been talked about all the way to Scotland. The goalkeeper mentioned our Playoff system.

The Belgian championship is not the only one to have established Playoffs. The Scottish Premiership also has them, Kasper Schmeichel will play them at the end of the season. But few of them have dared to divide the points by two.

“The system in Belgium is complicated to explain. Last season for example, the Club de Bruges was 19 points behind the Union before the start of the Playoffs, but they ended up champions thanks to the points division – and by winning 7 of their 10 Playoff matches” explains Schmeichel on the Ben Foster Podcast.

A system that continues to make people talk

“I admit that the last days of the championship are super interesting. On the last day, there were three teams that could become champions (Anderlecht, Union, Bruges). The previous season, there were three different champions in 7 minutes ” he still concedes to Ben Foster, also a former goalkeeper.

Despite all his experience, Kasper Schmeichel was very surprised: “It’s a bit of a weird system, they have this very last day of chaos, even for relegation. So, in a sense, that makes it very interesting. But sportingly, if a team has 20 points in advance… it doesn’t seem right to me to divide the points” he concludes.

At 38, Kasper Schmeichel is still a starter at Celtic, with whom he is playing in the Champions League. He also distinguished himself by taking a shot on goal against Rangers recently.
