Calafiori starts, three big changes

Arsenal host Ipswich Town in the Premier League at the Emirates Stadium today.

The Gunners have recorded back-to-back wins against Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup and Premier League. They will aim to continue the streak against Ipswich.

Mikel Arteta’s side are fourth in the table but can move up to second with a win tonight. Arsenal host Ipswich for the first time since the League Cup semi-final in 2011.

David Raya made two crucial saves against Palace last weekend which put Arsenal in the ascendancy.

The Gunners eventually claimed a comfortable 5-1 victory. The Spaniard is sure to continue in goal.

There will be a defensive change, with Miles Lewis-Skelly replaced by Riccardo Calafiori at left-back.

Calafiori needs more minutes under his belt to prepare for the biggest away challenges at Brentford and Brighton & Hove Albion next year.

Jurrien Timber is expected to retain his place at right-back, with William Saliba partnering Gabriel Magalhaes at the heart of the defence.

Thomas Partey could make way for the return of Declan Rice in midfield. The Englishman was superb in his appearance against Palace with a goal and an assist.

Partey has been injury prone in the past and could benefit from a break. Kai Havertz and Martin Odegaard will likely partner Rice in a three-man midfield.

There will be a forced change further back with Bukayo Saka out with a hamstring injury.

Arteta is expected to opt for the same combination after replacing Saka last weekend. Leandro Trossard should start on the left wing, with Gabriel Martinelli on the right.

Martinelli has impressed in his two appearances on the right wing this year. He was outstanding against Everton in May and also impressed against the Eagles on Saturday.

Gabriel Jesus should be a confirmed starter in attack after five goals in two games.

The Brazil international has returned to rich form and Arsenal fans will be hoping he can continue to score, especially with Saka ruled out.
