Christopher Nolan's new film
After the triumph at the 2024 Oscars with Oppenheimer, which won the award for Best Film, Christopher Nolan is preparing to surprise the public once again with a ambitious project and unexpected: a film adaptation of Homer's Odyssey. Universal Pictures recently announced that the film will be “a mythological epic, shot using new IMAX technology.”

With a filmography that ranges from psychological thrillers (Memento), to superheroes (The Dark Knight), to science fiction (Interstellar) and the biographical (Oppenheimer), Nolan confirms himself as one of the most eclectic and innovative directors on the contemporary cinema scene.

What makes this adaptation even more intriguing is the cast chosen to give life to the legendary characters of Homer's work. Among the protagonists we find Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong'o and Charlize Theron. Although the exact roles have not yet been confirmed, there is speculation that Damon could play Ulysses, while Zendaya e Theron they could fill the roles of Calypso and Athena.
The first information on Nolan's next film
Adapting The Odyssey represents a unique challenge for Nolan, who enters a new genre: the mito and the legend. The epic poem, written in the 8th century BC, follows Odysseus' journey home after the Trojan War, including encounters with capricious deities, mythological monsters, and tests of ingenuity and courage.

Nolan's Odyssey hits theaters on July 17, 2026.
