American Special Envoy Amos Hochstein during an official meeting with Najib Mikati, Lebanese Prime Minister
Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati considered this Sunday the possibility of meeting again with a French and American negotiating delegation with the aim of accelerating the complete withdrawal of Israeli troops remaining in southern Lebanon.
“We must consult the French and the Americans to end this Israeli prolongation and accelerate their departure as much as possible before the end of the 60-day period stipulated in the ceasefire agreement to achieve complete Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory. ” Mikati said in an official statement.
These declarations are made on the same day as The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced the recovery of at least 100 explosives in southern Lebanon and lifted restrictions in 62 villages, whose residents are banned from returning to their homes.
Israeli troops have also indicated they are continuing their ground incursion into southern Lebanon, where they entered on October 1 to oust Hezbollah from their country's border.
On November 27, after a year of conflict, a ceasefire came into force between Israel, Lebanon and Hezbollah, which provides, among other things, for the gradual withdrawal of Israeli troops from Lebanon, as well as the deployment of the army at the border Lebanese and the withdrawal of terrorists from the north of the Litani River.
